
Background
Andrew Nicoll is a commercial and corporate law specialist with considerable experience across many different industries, including manufacturing, health, professional services, technology, freight, liquor as well as start-ups. Andrew provides business and commercial legal services to a variety of clients, from multi-nationals, closely held companies, to family owned businesses to individuals.
Andrew rejoined Martelli McKegg as a partner in May 2025. Prior to that he was a partner at Hudson Gavin Martin for 13 years from 2012, which he joined after being a partner for six years at Martelli McKegg from 2006. His previous experience included eight years in Bell Gully’s corporate and commercial team followed by three years as a corporate and commercial partner at Brookfields. He gained a Master of Laws at the London School of Economics, University of London, in 1993.
Andrew regularly assists not for profit organisations including incorporated societies and charitable trusts. He is on the boards of the Northern Cochlear Implant Trust (which he chairs), Tamaki Makaurau Hearing Trust and The Teachers' Institute. He also assists The Pindrop Foundation, and theatre and arts organisations MixIt and Nightsong. He is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors, and was Chair of the Westlake Boys High School Board from 2016 until early 2025.
