Background
As an Associate on our Trusts team, Tammy Long draws on deep knowledge and experience in everything she does.
Tammy’s legal career began in her home country of South Africa. After being admitted to the bar in 1999, she spent a decade in litigation before emigrating to New Zealand and shifting her focus to Trust law. She spent fifteen years working in various roles for two major statutory trustee companies, building a wide understanding of trust law and client relationships.
Tammy joined Martelli McKegg in 2021, and her extensive knowledge and collaborative approach made her a vital member of the Trusts team right from the start. Her role involves developing long-term relationships with business clients and individuals as they work through complex trust and asset protection issues. She works on estate planning and asset protection – including wills, powers of attorney, advanced directives, property and welfare guardianship, elder care arrangements and applications, asset protection, contracting out agreements and estate administration.
She also helps guide junior team members as they start their careers, helping them build their knowledge and understanding of complex trust-management issues. Whether working with a client or colleague, Tammy brings empathy, understanding and a clear focus on results.
