Background

Melissa graduated from Otago University in 1994 with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (English). She spent the next six years at Anderson Lloyd’s Dunedin office before heading overseas, where she worked for top tier firm Eversheds in their London office. On her return to New Zealand she moved to Auckland and joined Martelli McKegg in 2006, becoming a partner in 2007.

Experience

Melissa’s legal experience over the last 30 years includes acting for owners and developers of commercial and residential property (including considerable experience with foreign investment consent applications) as well as for private individuals and families, advising on their personal estate planning requirements. She holds a large number of family trusteeships (as independent professional trustee) and is also on the board of one of New Zealand’s largest private charitable trusts.

Melissa currently leads Martelli McKegg’s trusts and estates department, which has four partners and a team of highly experienced lawyers and legal executives. She continues to work closely with the firm’s property department to service her clients’ property needs.
